Monstrous Beasts: A Guide to Friend Them

Hello everyone! I'm James Beck, co-founder of Eldritch Osiris Games and I bring you happy news! Player Core 2 is officially out and we got our copies of it which allows us to go through the book and remaster the book! This is more than just a control F to find every instance of flat-footed sadly BUT this does allow us to find weak points in the book and update them. 

Barbarian got a face lift which was nice to write. We consolidated all of the new instincts into just one animal instinct option with new prerequisites for the feats. This allowed us to save a ton of page space and see where we could expand other areas as we basically cut the book down by 2 pages effectively. 

Metamorph also got remastered and I won't share anything here but Marcy's skills have definitely gotten better since we wrote the class over a year ago. We're also reviewing other places to get remastered including the troop summoning spells which have gotten easier to run in your games with less mechanics for the players to run.

We're going to do some test printing through DriveThruRPG to see what printing looks like and to make sure we did everything correctly as this is our first Kickstarter and so we want to make sure we get everything right. We're going to be reaching out to some friends of ours who have done printing through DriveThru to not only save us time and money but also to get print on demand and books out to you faster. I don't want to give any hard promises but this basically means that we're not playing catch-up with Paizo anymore and can release a final product out to everyone.

Foundry VTT and Pathbuilder options will be updated with this remastered content. Our Pathbuilder freelancer has sadly gotten hit with some horrible news and so we're trying to make sure their mental health is well enough that they're not harming themselves while working on the project. I'll give an update once the Pathbuilder is available to everyone.

I'm super excited to be bringing Monstrous Beasts into the remaster to allow you to use the book for a lot longer! I hope everyone has a monstrously awesome day and can't wait to give you more fun updates!

Pathbuilder, Foundry, and Howl of the Wild, oh my!

Hello everyone, my name is James Beck with another update. This update is going to be relatively shorter than some of the other updates but it does bring good news. We have hired some outside help with Pathbuilder 2e and Foundry VTT development! We don't have a clear timeline but we're looking at May the latest for both of them. Pathbuilder is going to have some limits due to not all content being customizable in the current iteration of pathbuilder. The Foundry version WILL be updated when companions get their full integration into the system.

Updating the Book

We have been collecting errors and fixing where we can and are going to do a "big update" that's hopefully going to catch the rest of the spelling and formatting errors. Sadly we're not perfect but we are doing our best.

Remaster when?

Welcome to the talks of Monstrous Beasts! We are going to remaster the book BUT we cannot release the book with a remastered form because we don't have the license to print barbarians and some other content. We are barred from releasing something like a barbarian instinct with the ORC purely cause of licensing (not paizo's fault btw). We just need Player Core 2 to release so we can go into printing the remastered edition.

Howl of the Wild overlap

There's a HIGH chance that we're going to overlap with Paizo's upcoming book Howl of the Wild (especially the companions sections we're guessing). We are not planning to remove any overlap from the book. For instance, if a penguin becomes a companion in Howl of the Wild, we're not going to cut our penguin out of the book.

Monstrous PDF??!

Hello everyone, it's James Beck again here to proudly say that the Monstrous Beasts PDF is going out to backers today! That's right! The project is wrapping up as we get ready to remaster it! We are sending PDF's via backerkit as of the current moment but if we feel that people aren't getting their PDF's (due to some unknown reason) then we will go through DriveThruRPG for distribution. We hope that everyone gets their hands on this awesome book! Thank you for supporting us and the creation of Monstrous Beasts: A Guide to Friend Them!

Hello everyone, it's James Beck from EOG with some exciting news!

The last of the art is in! That's right! We got it and are currently throwing it into layout! What does that mean for backers? Great question.

If you are a backer, you'll receive a PDF copy of Monstrous Beasts hopefully really soon. With Mechfinder coming to an end for its campaign (less than 24 hours!), I can dedicate more time to Monstrous Beasts. I want to make it as accessible as possible including anchors that would allow you to use the bookmark feature on your PDF reader or browser but that does take time. The first PDF won't have this but we are going to do an updated version with that feature. The last update will be in November/December as we ensure the project is remastered for Pathfinder 2e Remaster. We will then print Monstrous Beasts as soon as the book is remastered so we don't charge you twice for printing.

That's all I can say right now as the project is in its completion phase. This project has been enjoyable and we are so excited for everyone to play the metamorph or to use archetypes like the animal caller (art below)!
